WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF JOINING?

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF JOINING?

Making access and inclusion a priority for individuals with diverse abilities

Our goal is to eliminate barriers so individuals with diverse abilities have access to arts and cultural opportunities. That means free admissions, support navigating accessibility challenges, and covering all communications between venues and the individual.

Saving Family Support Service Funds for the necessities

In 2021, the State of Georgia passed a $6.5 million cut to Family Support Services. These budget cuts have created a significant barrier for families supporting an individual(s) with a developmental disability to access funds to cover social and community outings. In response, AIC created a new membership so arts and cultural opportunities can be affordable for families with limited funding.

An abundance of community-based opportunities

We have anywhere from 85 to 100 annual arts and cultural opportunities available for our individual members and their caregiver and/or parent(s).

Educating the value and importance of art and culture

Art and culture promotes interaction, engages youth, and enhances skills, confidence, and quality of life for individuals. It challenges us, unites us, and makes our communities stronger. Everyone should be able to access and engage with it!

Gaining a partner

We're not just providing a service for individuals, we're advocating for all individuals. We're creating an accessible and open community where everyone can participate.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

Every year, ARTS InCommunity facilitates the donation and distribution of over $1.5 million worth of tickets from arts, cultural, and sports organizations. These tickets are donated to human service agencies serving individuals with disabilities, at-risk youth, veterans, low-income communities, and other systematically disadvantaged communities. In 2021, the program created a new membership for individuals with developmental disabilities in the State of Georgia.

Program memberships provide individuals with free tickets to arts and cultural opportunities for community outings. These include area museums, sporting events, visual and performing art performances, art galleries, special events, and the botanical gardens and zoo. There are no hidden ticket fees.

Applications can be submitted at any point throughout the year with the length of service lasting one year from the date of membership approval. Once an individual has joined the program, they are able to make reservations for free admissions to any of our ongoing venue partners. Each venue has its own set of rules and guidelines for attendance dates and hours of operations. These guidelines may be viewed here

Tickets to special events are only available when announced through our website and newsletter. We aim to have 1 to 3 special events every month including musical theatre, plays, ballet, sporting events, and more.
